Beating Depression

Hypnotherapy helps beat Depression

If you are suffering from depression at the moment please be  reassured that it is possible to beat depression and keep clear of it for good. I don't claim that you can beat depression overnight but then that's only the same as many other conditions that people regularly overcome.

The important thing to remember is that it is very treatable and because of that there is no reason why you, with the help of the effective, successful techniques of Hypnotherapy, should not overcome your depression.

Depression can be an extremely debilitating illness and many sufferers have difficulty dealing, not only with the condition itself but, the sheer unpredictability of Depression. The ups and downs that we can suffer during depression, which can be quite severe at times, can make the condition seem almost intolerable at times.

One minute you're ready to take on the world and the very next minute you're as low as can be. This is very frustrating for the sufferer and of course for their families or friends as well as they try to rally around them. But, as I say, despite its severity, there are a number of ways in which Hypnotherapy can help you to first of all lift your depressive moods and then carry on to overcome and beat your depression.

Symptoms of Depression

Clients often ask me what the difference is between severe stress and depression. The answer is that, in many cases, there is often very little difference between the two. Someone suffering from severe stress may well experience pretty much the same feelings and emotions as someone suffering from mild to moderate depression.

There are several different types of depression and clients can also suffer differing degrees of severity within each group. However,

I have had many years experience in helping people to successfully overcome the following issues and concerns:

  • Extreme exhaustion, lethargy or tiredness

  • Lack of interest in pleasurable things

  • Consistent and irrational mood swings

  • Feeling emotionally and physically drained

  • Feeling overwhelmed, under pressure

  • Irrational emotional outbursts, crying

  • Frequent feelings of sadness

  • Eating problems, bingeing or no appetite

  • Changes in sleeping habits, early waking, difficulty sleeping or sleeping too much

  • Lack of concentration or memory loss

  • Difficulty making decisions

  • Feelings of worthlessness, guilt or feeling ashamed

  • Suicidal thoughts

These are a few of the ways clients I have helped have described their feelings, perhaps you can identify with some of them:

'I feel absolutely dreadful, like I have flu but worse'  'I feel as though a black cloud has descended over me and my life'  'I seem to be thinking in black and white'  'Nothing seems to cheer me up anymore'  'I just keep crying, usually for no reason at all'  'I feel utterly pathetic'  ' I spent all day in bed yesterday just listening to the same CD over and over again'  'I don't want to talk to anyone, even my best friends'  'I have absolutely no energy'  'I just want to run away but I don't know where'  ' I can't even make the simplest of decisions'  'when I do try to think of pleasant things I can't seem to think of any'  'I'm terrified I won't get well again'  'I sleep for hours but still wake up exhausted'   'I hate myself for being so weak'  'Sometimes I feel pretty good and then the next minute I feel awful again'  'I'm having terrible nightmares, I hate going to bed'

What Causes Depression

Depression is frequently caused by a combination of things but common contributory factors include:

  • Life events such as relationship difficulties, divorce, bereavement, career worries or redundancy

  • Lack of self esteem - people with low self esteem can be more prone to undue worrying, dwelling on problems or pessimism which increase their chances of suffering from depression

  • Physical illness can contribute to depression, viral infections in particular

Overcoming Depression with Hypnotherapy

With the exception of Bipolar or some of the more severe forms of depression, which usually require treatments more specific to those conditions,  Hypnotherapy is very successful in helping to people to beat most forms of depression.

Hypnotherapy, using a combination of Hypnosis and therapeutic solution based techniques, provides very effective ways of not only overcoming depression but, just as importantly, provides positive methods that help you stay clear of depression in the future.
